L.G. Ch.6

Let’s exchange the lunch box.

The next day, I stopped going to the bathroom. When the lunch break started, I didn’t hesitate to go to the roof.

“Hey, good morning.”

When I opened the door, Futaba-senpai waved her hand.

“Good morning.”

I sat down next to her.

It doesn’t matter how early I finish my classes, she always stays ahead of me.

“It’s another beautiful day.”

And she always eats yakisoba bread.

“Don’t you ever get tired of yakisoba bread?”

“I don’t get bored. I like it. How about you, Narumi-kun?”

“‘Not really. I’m not really one to combine carbs with carbs.”

“It’s delicious.”

Futaba-senpai took a bite of the yakisoba bread.

We got to know each other through Count Maporin’s stories, and little by little we began to talk about each other.

“Why are you a loner, Narumi-kun?”

Senpai asked with an innocent smile.

“You’re so easy to talk to.”

“Only senpai says that. I don’t really get along with people. I’m a loner by choice.”

“As much as possible…”

Senpai grunted in annoyance.

“You’re so sneaky.”

“Being a loner makes you sneaky.”

“Well, I guess I get it.”

After finishing the yakisoba bread, she crumpled up the wrapper and put it in a plastic bag.

“Why are you a loner?”

I asked her as she stuck the straw into the milk carton.

“You seem to be able to make friends and stuff.”

“I don’t know.”

“At least you have a more decent personality than me.”

When I said that, Futaba-senpai looked up at the sky.

“Fu.”

“What’s with the faraway look?”

“When you’re at my level, you don’t need friends.”

“That’s just being tough, isn’t it?”

“What can’t be done… can’t be done.”

She sighed with a huff.

“I’ve always been anemic and had to go to the nurse’s office, so I never really fit in…”
Futaba-senpai looked down at Zune.

When she told me that, I looked at her body and felt that she was somewhat too thin.

“You have to eat more than just yakisoba bread.”

“Why?”

“Because if you eat the same thing all the time, your nutrition will be skewed.”

“Yakisoba bread has red pickled ginger in it…”

“Is red pickled ginger a vegetable?”

“I don’t know…”

“Mu” Futaba-senpai said, with her mouth agape. I’m not sure what came over her, but she grabbed my hand.

Fingers get tangled.

“Hey, senpai…!”

“Give me that.”

She snatched the chopsticks from my hand and took the omelet from my lunchbox.

“I’ll take it.”

She threw it into her mouth.

She swallowed it with a gulp and her face lit up.

“What is this, it’s delicious.”

“…my egg rolls.”

“I’m nourished.”

She said, her cheeks relaxing.

“It’s too good.”

“I’m not so sure.”

“It’s delicious. Hey, can you share your lunch with me next time? I’ll give you a bite of yakisoba bread instead.”

“…Eh.”

“Please.”

Futaba-senpai said and leaned closer to me. Then she reached out her hand and stuck out her little finger.

“…Please.”

Glittering eyes look at me. I can’t make eye contact. I could barely stretch out my own fingers.

“…Okay.”

“Yubikiri Genman…” (TL : It means Pinky swear.)

My fingers swayed in time with Futaba-senpai’s happy voice. Her hands, which were somewhat smaller than mine, were still cool to the touch.

“I cut my finger.”

The pre-bell rang. My fingers naturally unraveled. Futaba Senpai waved her pinky finger proudly and opened her mouth.

“Thank you for worrying about me.”

“…I’d better get going.”

“Good luck in class.”

Futaba-senpai waved me off with a flutter of her hand. When I closed the door to the rooftop, the inside of the school building was slightly humid and hot.

I wiped the sweat from my brow.

“Damn… poison.”

The sensation of the entwined fingers did not disappear until after school.
