Ch 23 Ambush and Change

“Fuwaaa…”

Monday morning.

I let out a sigh of relief as I walked to school.

On Saturday, the night I exchanged Nyain with Ageha, I received a message from her, looking happy, and while I was replying to it, before I knew it, it was morning.

I went to sleep in a hurry, but when I woke up in the evening, I had lost the whole Sunday.

And, more importantly, there was no way I could sleep at night if I got up at such an early hour.

As a result, I stayed up all night in the spirit of I’d rather stay up all night than oversleep.

So, I was very sleepy.

I feel bad. I felt nauseous from beginning to end.

The only thing I can do is to sleep frequently during my breaks.

As I was dabbing at my eyes, a familiar voice suddenly called out to me from up ahead.

“Haru-kun, good morning!”

This energetic voice is, needless to say, Ageha.

When I lifted my gaze, I found her standing there in her Yodogishi High School uniform with a smile on her face that was too dazzling for me at the moment.

The Aizawa family is on the way from my house to school.

Looking at this, I guess she was waiting for me to come.

“Good morning, Ageha.”

“Hmm? What’s wrong, Haru-kun? You don’t seem fine.”

“No, why are you so cheerful? I didn’t sleep because I was afraid I would oversleep today.”

When I said that, she tilted her head curiously.

“I went to bed early last night as usual. I woke up in the evening, but if I don’t go to bed, I won’t wake up in the morning.

“I think it’s really great that you can sleep like that.”

“Well, children who sleep grow up!”

Saying so, Ageha puffed out her chest.

I turned my head away and started to walk away.

“By the way, were you waiting for me?”

“… Yeah.”

“What if I overslept?”

“I’ll wait for you.”

“Please don’t ever do that.”

I hurriedly lunged at Ageha, who said this without hesitation.

Then she looked at me with a dissatisfied “Muh,” and turned away.

“Haru-kun, I have the perfect plan to easily resolve such a situation, want to hear it?”

“Maybe, Ageha doesn’t ambush and obediently goes to school.”

“Boo-boo.”

Ageha that makes a batten in front of the body.

“I give up. What?”

“It’s simple. Haru-kun should go to school with me. You did that with… sister, didn’t you?”

“Yes, but…”

I couldn’t bear to see her face turning red, so I looked up at the sky.

…To be honest, I’m embarrassed.

I had been doing this with Karen since we were little, so it was nothing new for me, but I had never been alone with her before.

The only time that would have happened would be when Karen caught a cold or something.

So, in other words, I was not used to it.

Above all, it was embarrassing to commute to school alone with a girl I had fallen in love with, as if we were a couple.

However, it doesn’t mean that I don’t want to go to school with her.

I was a little worried about it, and then nodded my head and said, “Okay.”

“I’ll come with you tomorrow. I feel bad if we run into Karen and the others, so let’s meet at the park at 8:00 a.m.”

I said, and she smiled a little after ruminating over what I had said.

As I entered the crowded entrance, I said goodbye to Ageha.

Then, with a happy smile on her face, she said, “Yeah, I’ll see you at lunch!” and ran to the freshman entrance.

I watched her back until she melted away in the crowd, and then I too headed for the second grade entrance.

I put my shoes away in my shoebox and took out my jacket instead.

I adjusted my position, lightly tapping my toes and kicking the floor.

As if sucked in, I head for the stairs and ascend to the third floor, where the second grade classrooms are located.

When I enter the classroom, Karen is just about to walk out into the hallway.

“Oh, good morning, Haru-kun.”

“Oh, good morning.”

The two of us nearly collided head-on, but we just about managed to avoid it.

… So, for whatever reason, I’m in the same class as Karen again this year.

“Hmm, Haru-kun, are you feeling kind of tired?”

“Uh, yeah, I didn’t sleep. I woke up last night in the evening.”

“Did Ageha do something to you again?”

“No, I just had too much going on.”

She’s sharp.

Well, it was my decision to go along with the nyain of Ageha, so I can’t really blame her since it was usually my own fault.

“Rather than that, is it okay to spend time in a place like this. It seems like you were trying to go somewhere.”

“I had something to do during my lunch break today, so I couldn’t eat with Saijo-kun, so I thought I’d give him his lunch box.”

“Bento?”

Saying so, Karen held up a lunch box in her right hand, which was large for a girl’s lunch box, and showed it to me.

Seeing this, I came to a conclusion.

“Oh, Karen is making it.”

It doesn’t matter.

I have heard of couples rarely doing that.

But still, homemade lunches, huh?

As for Ageha… no, let’s stop.

The trauma of chocolate passed through my mind.

I think that if I ask Ageha, I might get a bomb onigiri or something like that.

… No, there is no reason to ask Ageha for lunch in the first place.

“Then go ahead and get going. Homeroom will be starting soon. Sorry to keep you.”

“Uh-huh.”

When I said this, Karen raised her eyebrows in confusion.

She then looked into my face, put her hand on my chin in distress, and said hesitantly,

“Haru-kun, have you changed somehow?”

“Huh? Me? What?”

I have absolutely no idea.

The only thing that makes me different from usual is that I don’t sleep well.

When I responded, Karen looked as if she was still thinking about something, then looked up and laughed, saying, “Well, maybe it’s just my imagination.”

“Well, see you later.”

After saying this, Karen headed for the stairs.

I also entered the classroom and sat down on my seat in the center of the classroom and plopped down on the desk.
